"Short Subjects, Big Impact"!

Film is a powerful way to communicate across cultures and experiences. Reel Life: A Disability Film Festival is about celebrating the lives of people with disabilities and the rich and varied disability culture that has developed to express the unique experiences and perspectives of the disability community. It is also about repairing the fractures and misunderstandings between people with different types of disabilities and about enlightening the non-disabled world about the reality of life with disability.

This is the fifth Reel Life Disability Film Festival. Since its inception, the festival has screened over 100 films from countries from all over the world depicting people with every facet of disability. This edition of Reel Life will feature short subjects under 30 minutes. These films will prove that good things come in small packages, as filmmakers compress powerful messages, drama, comic truth, and breathtaking images into films that you will remember far longer than their length.

Tickets:  Tickets: $6.26 in advance ($5 + $1.26 handling fee) or $10 suggested contribution at the door.

Buying your ticket in advance gets you access to reserved seating in the front. 15,000 people attend the People's Art Festival - it could be packed!

Schedule: from 12-1 the young adults from the VSA arts afterschool program will be drumming with Baba Kevin Collins and dancing with Portia Anderson Fields.

Films will be shown for approximately 30 minutes, followed by a 5 minute break to allow people to leave and enter. A film schedule will be posted by August 27th.

Accessibility: The space is wheelchair accessible. Sign language interpreters, Braille, audio description on request. This is the weekend of the People’s Arts Festival and if you have chemical sensitivities you may want to skip this. Send request to: reellifedisabilityfilmfestival@gmail.com  Accommodation requests only available for advance ticket purchasers.

Location: Russell St. Bazaar Exhibition Space. From 1-75 take exit-54 E. Grand River / Clay Ave. Turn onto Clay Ave heading East toward the Russell Industrial Center.
